The Centre for Popular Culture in the Humanities cooperated with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office to bring a loved Taiwanese documentary Rock Me to the Moon to HKIEd. The documentary was awarded the Best Original Film Song (50th Golden Horse Award) and Audience Choice award (Taipei Film Award 2013), among many others.
It is about six Taiwanese fathers of children with rare diseases who are not willing to let fate defeat them. They started to learn music and even form a rock band with the goal to perform in the popular Hohaiyan Rock Festival. The film also documents their daily lives with their children, showing their trials and tribulations.
We are also delighted to have the band’s guitarist Papa Li as a guest to share his experience and to perform for us.
Guest: Mr. Li ChengTe
Guitarist in the film. Stay-at-home-dad who works as a website programmer.
